The Kansas House has approved a resolution saying the Environmental Protection Agency air-quality regulations are hurting the national economy.

The resolution approved Wednesday urges Congress to stop funding

EPA's air-quality work and to stop the agency from regulating
greenhouse gas emissions that scientists say are contributing to
global climate change.

The Wichita Eagle reports that the resolution is a near copy of
one offered to state legislatures by the American Legislative
Exchange Council. The Washington-based organization says it has
2,000 state legislators as members. It is largely funded by oil,
chemical and corporate interests, including foundations controlled
by Wichita-based Koch Industries.

Supporters of the resolution say the EPA is damaging the economy
by over-regulating states.

Opponents say sending the critical resolution to Washington is
offensive and could harm the state.
