For the third time, investigations by independent investigators have found that climate researchers at University of East Anglia did not slant their findings. You will recall their hacked emails had some imprudent statements last year. The report said the scientists' honesty and rigor were not in doubt and dismissed claims of data-tampering that might shed doubt on conclusions on man-made climate change.
Sir Muir Russell, the former senior British civil servant tapped by the university to lead the review, said in an interview Wednesday that scientists have to behave more openly in an era where scientific debate is conducted in blogs and not just in peer-reviewed journals. "Science has to cope" with a new world of broadened "criticism and scientific challenge," he said. Sir Muir said his panel was "entirely independent" and that none of its members "brought any agenda to it whatsoever."
Previous independent investigations were conducted by the British Parliament and another university-sponsored panel reached the same conclusions.
