Australia brought whaling case in international court

A court appeal brought by Australia to prevent Japanese whaling in the Antartic has got underway at the International Court of Justice in the Hague. A global ban prevents commercial whaling, but Japan says it needs to continue its annual hunt for scientific research. Al Jazeera's Andrew Thomas reports from Sydney
