United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, or Rio+20

In June, Brazil will host one of the largest and most important gatherings in the history of the United Nations. Marking the anniversary of the first Earth Summit held there in 1992, the Rio+20 Earth Summit is seen as a "once in a generation opportunity" to put the world on a path to a sustainable low-carbon green economy. The UN recently announced that 115 heads of state are already committed to attend Rio+20

UNICEF: SPEAK UP FOR CHILDREN
Right now, one million children are at risk from severe malnutrition in West Africa. Every day, millions more children wake up to hunger, a lack of clean water or are at risk from disasters like floods, droughts and earthquakes. It shouldn't be like this. It's time to Speak Up For Children. Add your name to our petition and get Nick Clegg to speak up for children at the Rio Earth Summit to stop crises like West Africa happening in the future.

PLEDGE FOR A BETTER PLANET
The excessive use of the earth’s resources is currently unsustainable and is adversely affecting all future life. Pledge for a Better Planet is a petition that aims to apply pressure on the world’s leaders to put in place and implement practices that will ensure a healthy planet for future generations.

A DATE WITH HISTORY
‘Date With History’ is an opportunity for young people from around the globe to inspire leaders and decision-makers to act boldly and urgently on key issues impacting the future of our planet. People age 13 to 30 uploaded video speeches telling the world about the "future we want." A diverse jury of prominent celebrities, environmental activists and thought leaders selected one winner out of the finalists. Our winner from New Zealand, Brittany, will travel to Rio de Janeiro to participate in the summit and to share her vision. She needs your support and she wants to hear your ideas too!

THE FUTURE WE WANT
What do you dream of for your community? What would life look like if you could design it? We all have dreams and ideas to make the world better. We believe there is enormous power in the sharing of those ideas. The Future We Want is a global conversation to build the future through a positive vision for tomorrow.
